Level 1 MotivationaI Interviewing (2 days)
Learn the theory and skills of Motivational Interviewing (MI): all about change and motivation, how to get started and basic MI skills.

Since 1993, Donna Kerr has designed programs and trained staff in Motivational Interviewing and the Model of Change for Correctional Services of Canada, Capital Health, Government of B.C., Health Canada FASD Prevention and other local, provincial and national organizations.She is a member of the MINT (Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers), an international collective of people trained as trainers in MI.
Donna brings extensive practical experience and knowledge to the training and is known for her relaxed and fun (yet efficient and effective) training style.Donna is self-employed at Kerr Creative where she does writing and training. Before self-employment called, she worked at AADAC (Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission) for six years at the Henwood Treatment Centre. Donna started as a Recreation Therapist and was Supervisor of the Leisure Department by the time she left AADAC to start her own company.
Who should attend:
This workshop will be useful and relevant to occupational therapists, physiotherapists, recreation therapists, nurses and therapists working in other disciplines who are practicing in a broad range of institutional and community settings. It will be useful to both novice and experienced therapists.
Please note: Certificates can only be issued to those participants who attend and complete all of the hours specified. If people do not attend the full workshop, they will not receive a certificate.
