Years in Practice: more than 5 years but less than 10 years
Description:

I have over 6 years experience working in pediatric mental health wearing different professional hats as both a Mental Health Therapist and an Occupational Therapist to support children with mental health concerns such as ADHD, ODD, FASD, anxiety, autism, trauma, and behavioral difficulties from both lenses. I continue to wear both professional hats in my practice.

Occupational Therapy Services:
I provide assessment and treatment for children and adolescents in a variety of areas including writing, fine and gross motor skills, visual motor skills, and sensory concerns. I also offer comprehensive motor assessments to support the family physician or pediatrician to rule in or out a diagnosis of Dyspraxia/Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD). Treatment and intervention are collaborative, fun, and tailored to you and your child’s goals! I offer treatment in the areas of fine and gross motor skills, writing, and Activities of Daily Living (ex. feeding, dressing, sleeping). I am familiar with providing assessments to children who have difficulties with focus, attention, and behaviour and I am happy to explore ways to make this a positive, engaging, and pleasurable experience! I provide supports with those funded through FSCD contracts, insurance benefits, and direct payment.

I plan to soon offer adult cognitive rehabilitation treatment for those who have undergone a motor vehicle accident in areas including memory, task prioritization, self-care, and pacing.

Mental Health Therapy Services:
I specialize in working with young children (0-7) in the toddler, preschool, kindergarten, and early elementary stages. Common concerns that I support include anxiety, selective mutism, ADHD, emotional regulation, anger, oppositional or defiant behaviors (ODD), developmental delays, and parent child relationship issues. I also enjoy collaborating with parents and families to collectively explore the best supports for their child. I approach treatment collaboratively, holistically, and incorporate knowledge of a child’s psychological, social, emotional, and physical development alongside external factors such as home, school, and daycare life. The modalities I utilize have foundations in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Attachment-Based Therapy and parent-management training. These modalities will be appropriately adapted according to your young child’s stage in development.
