Created: January 1, 2025

INTRODUCTION

The Society of Alberta Occupational Therapists (“SAOT” or “we”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it as set out in this policy.

This policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose the personal information of our members, individuals who access SAOT products and services, and our website users (“you”) on www.saot.ca (our “Website”).

We will only use your personal information in accordance with this policy unless otherwise required by applicable law. We take steps to ensure that the personal information that we collect about you is adequate, relevant, not excessive, and used for limited purposes.

In this policy, “personal information” means any information about an identifiable individual, or information that permits an individual to be identified. Personal information excludes anonymous or de-identified data that is not associated with a particular individual. It also excludes the collection, use or disclosure of an individual’s business contact information, such as an individual’s name, position name or title, business telephone number, business address, business email address, business fax number and other similar business information, if the collection, use or disclosure is for the sole purpose of enabling the individual to be contacted in relation to the individual’s business responsibilities.

This policy applies to information we collect, use, and disclose about you:

  • On this Website.
  • In email, text, and other electronic messages between you and this Website.
  • When you provide information through the Website, including through the membership registration or renewal process, through the member portal, or when you register for any SAOT product or service.
  • When you provide information through email or any other exchanges with SAOT.

The Website may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins, services, social networks, or applications. Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow the third party to collect or share data about you. If you follow a link to a third-party website or engage a third-party plugin, please note that these third parties have their own privacy policies, and we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. We do not control these third-party websites, and we encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit.

Please read this policy carefully to understand our policies and practices for collecting, using, and disclosing your information.

If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is not to use our Website, not to access any SAOT products or services, and not to join membership with SAOT. By using our Website or by submitting personal information to us, you consent to the contents of this policy. If you do not agree to the contents of this policy, or to our collection, use, disclosure and management of your personal information as described in this policy, you are not permitted to use this website or to send us your personal information.

This policy may change from time to time (see Changes to Our Privacy Policy).
